Summer 2007 in Battle Creek
The long summer evenings invited me to drive over to Battle Creek for some Railfanning. See the best pictures from
these days in Battle Creek:
The old NW2 with reporting mark DRSX 1005 works still for Kelloggs.
This is an ice blower to clean grade crossing in winter. In the nose sits a jet engine.
With the Kellogg plant in the background a long mixed freight is expecting the order to go westwards.
GP9R CN 4616 works full throttle at the Emmett Yard.
Still in Grand Trunck livery GP38-2 with # 4908 arrives with a local in the yard.
From the bridge over the yard we are seeing another freigth awaiting departure westwards. I want to get this one
downtown and drive near to the Amtrak station
After a while the train comes into the station area.
IC 6104, a SD40-2 is leading. At the left side you see Amtrak station.
Four engines are moving this train! Second is a leasing unit from Alstom numbered GTW 5947 (also a SD40-2), the third
is UP 3838, a SD70 and the last another SD70 numbered UP4084.
The white van brought the crew to the train - again back to my car to see this train downtown!
I just parked the car as horns were blowing - more or less in dismbarking the car I could shoot CN 5700, a SD75I, with
her eastbound. As there is single track to the yard I got some more time to drive to another location for my westbound.
At the grade crossing Forest Street I am waiting. In the shine of the evening sun CN 2603 (C44-9W) pulls the train out
of the shadow.
UP 8315, a SD70ACe is on second position.
Both are accelerating westwards.
The last picture shows an Amtrak train directed to Port Huron at the Emmett Street yard. |
